The Boys & Girls Club of Frederick County is partnering with the American Diabetes Association to provide Project Power. PROJECT POWER changes lives by creating a space where children and their families learn valuable skills they need to live a healthy, happy life. This FREE program utilizes an outcomes-based curriculum that instills the importance of physical activity and nutrition for the entire family.
Children learn by doing—reading food labels, portioning food appropriately and understanding the importance of regular exercise. “Teachable moments” and wellness education are part of the program schedule so participants can focus on staying healthy while learning, playing sports and more. Project Power Baltimore is specifically designed for boys and girls with multiple risk factors for developing type 2 diabetes, but not formally diagnosed.
