Congratulations, Rethink Your Drink Challenge Participants!

Our 6-week Rethink Your Drink Challenge has officially come to an end. More than 170 people participated in sipping smarter this summer.

During this challenge, participants were asked to rethink their drinks by skipping sugar-sweetened beverages (SSBs) like soda, sports drinks, energy drinks, and more and choosing water instead. They learned all about the risks of drinking SSBs and how to hydrate healthily.

In total, participants consumed more than 262,000 ounces of water over the course of this challenge. That’s an average of around 47 ounces per challenger per day. Participants on the Frederick Health team drank the most by far—coming in at a whopping 234,000 ounces! Their top performer drank more than 9,300 themselves, or more than 200 ounces of water each day. Now, that’s commitment to hydration!

All types of drinks were rethought—soda, coffee, and tea being the most popular. Aside from swapping these drinks for water altogether, participants found and enjoyed alternatives like coconut water while avoiding sugar and caffeine.

Other than drinking water, the most popular way participants hydrated was by eating more fruits and vegetables. Did you know that most vegetables are over 90% water?

In the end, participants indicated that this challenge made them more conscious of staying hydrated and has led to them drinking more water regularly.

Congratulations to everyone who participated in the Rethink Your Drink Challenge. Even though the challenge is over, you can continue to rethink your drink choices and sip smarter.
